Beckham sustained the injury without coming into contact with anyone else, limping to the sidelines in a match Milan went on to win 1-0.
Milan coach Leonardo said after the game: "Beckham's injury makes us feel terrible.

Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has revealed that the club have an ‘obsession’ about signing Wayne Rooney from Manchester United.

Real Madrid spent £250million last summer, signing players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Xabi Alonso.

Calderon said: “It seems that it’s an obsession for the president to go for Rooney. I imagine Manchester United wouldn’t like to lose a player like him.

“Sometimes it’s a point of money and if there is a proposal maybe there will be a deal.

“You have to take into account that the most important thing is what a player wants to do.

“Ronaldo was a good signing. He is one of the best. He is a professional, a real professional and he is doing a really good job.

“I don’t know if it is possible to spend again another 100 or 80 million more euros. I imagine in that case you (Manchester United) would have to sell.”

Fernando Torres has revealed that he could quit Liverpool if the club fails to buy the players they need to challenge for titles next season.

The Reds are currently sixth place in the Premier League table and will face a struggle to get the important fourth Champions League berth.

Torres told Spanish newspaper AS, when asked if he could leave Liverpool if they fail to qualify for the Champions League: “It’s too soon to talk, I honestly think that we’re going to be fourth, but for me Champions League qualification isn’t so important.

“The really important thing is that the club makes a big effort and brings in important players, who will improve the quality of the squad.

“We need four or five top-class players to compete, better than we have here, who will make us grit our teeth and do everything we can to try and keep our places.

“Without reinforcements next year we will once again be fighting to be fourth.

“I want to fight next year to win the Premier League, to win the Champions League or the Europa League, but for this there have to be signings.”

Torres added: “There are so many circumstances and so many things that you have to take into account that it is too soon to talk about that. But I have this and three more years of my contract.

“I’ve left my home and it’s clear that I owe Liverpool many things, and I’m very happy here.

“The fans have treated my like one of their own, but I’m going to think about my future and hopefully it will be here. I think these fans deserve to win.

“Beyond thinking about me, I think the club deserve to get back to winning (trophies), but they know themselves that right now that it’s far off.

“The fans are worried about players going, it’s a problem when you start to fear that your players are going because you know it’s because the club is not moving forward, but I don’t think that is going to be the situation here.

“Since the arrival of (managing director) Christian Purslow Liverpool have had an important boost, we signed with a big-money sponsor to match Real Madrid, then things are going to go forward.”

Second leg hammering of 4-0 by Manchester United proved that AC Milan are not good enough to compete with European elites anymore. Agrregrate 7-2 loss is simply an embarrasemnt for the Italian giants. They are suppose to be defensively sound and yet they conceeding 7 goals in 2 matches. This all leads to the fact that the 7 times European Champions are losing their grip on class.

AC Milan and Manchester United played with similar formation but AC Milan failed and United succeeded. What might be the reason? Its work-rate. Milan's forward line of Ronaldinho, Borrielo, Huntelaar did not chased the ball when they lost posession. They were happy to be on the other side of the pitch and wait for the ball to come to them. Whereas, United forwards were going back and forth to retain the possession.

Why, What happened to this graceful Italian Giants? The answer is evident in their line-up. They dont have the fresh legs to compete in top leagues. There squad are already over their prime career. The most shocking are their goalkeeper. Their first-choice keeper Cristian Abbiati has been loaned to several clubs, because he was deemed as incapable of playing for Milan. Yet, he finds the oppurtunity to stand between the bars for Milan. Dida was the man who protected the clean-sheet for Milan for a number of years, but even he at his prime was not among the best in the world. I wonder, how he managed to hold on to his spot for so long. If you look at other Milan keeper, the truth is even depressing. Flavio Roma, 35 and Zeljko Kalac, 37 should have been replaced by younger keepers two tor three season ago. But there are still there filling up the squad.

Despite being domestic league winners for massive 17th times, their squad needs a major overhaul of young players. AC Milan somehow, seems to be happy with just slugging in the league and get whatever they can with this ageing squad. They simply can't cope with the required stamina and fitness for modern day games. AC Milan are still considered amongst the top clubs in Europe alongside, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Barcelona. But they are far behind from their elite competitors. Look at Barcelona and Manchester United, they still retain their top players but have managed to bring in youth players and blend in together. Real Madrid and AC Milan are facing the same problem at the moment. They don't have any good young players coming out of the ranks of youth teams. This hampers achieving their status and objectives and should be fixed sooner rather than later.

Arsene Wenger is delighted on his re-signing of Sol Campbell. In a press conference ahead of his side’s second leg tie with Porto he said:

Quote:Sol wants to win and he can spread that through the team and give advice. We want to win this game but we also need to be patient maybe and it is important to keep your head. He gives us a good mixture, it is not only him, but there is a good blend of youth and experience.

This comment is expected from a wise man as Arsene Wenger, right? After all, the right mixture of youth and experience is the recipe to success in professional football. This method been extensively utilized by Sir Alex Ferguson, who recently won his 35th trophy.

On the other hand, Arsene Wenger, who brought back the technical, heavily stylized football into modern day game rely totally on youngsters. He continously refuses to sign older, experienced players and shows every support to his youth squad.

During his early days at Arsenal, he brought in some of the finest young players who were virtually unknown. He made them into superstars, but they were blessed because at that time, Arsenal already had a set of experienced players who guided them to club's principles and Wenger's expectations. They were not as badly exposed as the current squad.

The team led by Fabregas, today is a stylized bunch of youngsters, who are left there without any guidance on the pitch. Wenger does his job as a coach but when it really matters, Arsenal players don't have anyone on the pitch to look for support and inspiration. They are all playing the beautiful game Arsene Wenger have coached them to do. And what a great job they do. If there was ever a trophy for loving the game and adoring its every aspect. It would definately go Arsene Wenger and Arsenal.

They are the most fascinating team at the moment, they play the fluid football which is rare this days. The one-to-one passes, the mastery of skills shown by this set of players are simply awesome.

But, its not enough to run the club smoothly. They need the financial input to function the club. They need to win cups and fill out those trophy cabinet. I know its been said everytime, but Wenger needs to bring in some old legs, just to keep the youngsters on their toes. To make the dressing room, more professional and inspirational. They need someone to lead the team. Someone who can be a role-model for the squad. Someone who has the experience under-his-belt to motivate the team.

I truly believe that Arsene Wenger is one the best manager we have ever seen. But his negative intake on older players is his biggest flaw. If he rethinks his policy, Arsenal can again go a season unbeaten!

Arsene Wenger has called on his young Arsenal side to focus on eliminating their own "weak moments" rather than get obsessed with the chance of revenge against Manchester United or Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The Gunners secured a place in the last eight with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Porto at Emirates Stadium, overturning a 2-1 deficit from the first leg, as Nicklas Bendtner got back on the goal trail with a hat-trick.

Wenger said: "It is never easy to be in the top eight in Europe. The negative side is you only have good teams now - Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea, so it will be difficult."

The Arsenal manager added: "At the beginning of the season, nobody expected this team to be where we are, but we showed we have mental strength, we have good desire and good quality.

"I believe it is more important on our side to continue to improve - there are still some weak moments in the game we can deal with better, so before we talk about Barcelona or Manchester United it is important we continue to improve, then we have a chance."

Wenger, however, stressed: "If we say we absolutely do not want to play an English team, we put ourselves in an inferior position at the start.

"Maybe it is a good opportunity, if we get them, to show we can do well. If I have a choice, I would say yes, but I do not have a choice. If we get them, we cannot do worse than we did in the championship - we can only do better.

"We will take the draw we get and also we do not have to make a negative obsession of not playing against Chelsea or Manchester United."

Bendtner had missed a string of chances against Burnley on Saturday, but produced decisive finishes last night.

Wenger said: "It shows you how football can change very quickly. Nicklas had not lost the confidence, it remains relatively stable. He came back with good focus and the same belief - that is one of his strengths as well."
