Cagliari manager Massimiliano Allegri have won the coach of the year award for 2008/2009 leaving behind the talented quadruple defending coach Jose Mourinho.

The award was voted by fellow Italian managers, which Massimiliano go 40 percent of the total votes compared to 20 percent for Mourinho.

Massimiliano came to Sardinia in 2008 and coached Cagliari-then lowly ranked team, to a respectable 9th place last season.

He has done very well there and it is nice to see the smaller clubs get a mention aswell as the large ones
